Marvel’s Black Panther in Theaters February 16

Marvel's latest superhero flick is due in the theaters on February 16. I highly suggest you get your tickets early if you want to be there opening day or even that weekend. Richard bought his tickets last night. Can you believe they were almost sound out? Of course, the guys prefer the dream lounger seats - which are basically huge, comfy recliners. It's a little pricier, but they both get student discounts. What is Marvel's Black Panther about? I have to be honest there are a lot of Marvel characters that I know very little about. Black Panther is on that list. However, I do love Marvel characters and plan on seeing the movie myself. Though I'll wait until it's available to stream. For additional information on  cast and crew, check out the Black Panther IMDB page. Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHER follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his … [Read more...]

A Beautiful Mind – Movie Review

“A Beautiful Mind”, directed by Ron Howard and released in 2001 amazed crowds worldwide with the intricate story that sparked suspense, intrigue and a highly entertaining feature film. The story follows a mathematician by the name of Jonathan Nash, who in his rite is a certified genius. The narrative follows Nash on the grounds of Princeton where he and his intellectual  are on the conquest of achieving greatness within their field of study as well as finding suitable partners with whom to procreate. This aspect of the storyline establishes the baseline for the character by introducing people to the scene and setting. It interactions, cold to other people and straightforward with his manner of speech, in a way, painted him as an “anti-hero.” One of those people who you love to hate. However, seeing that Russell Crowe played the part, people could look past the character flaws of Jonathan Nash. However, a movie simply about mathematicians on Princeton would hardly spark … [Read more...]

I Watch the Same Movie Every Night

Ok so maybe not the same movie every night, but it's something like that. Backing up a bit, when I was younger say early teens I always had to have something to listen to when I went to bed. I usually listened to the radio, but honestly my favorite thing was a subliminal weight loss tape. On one side it was the sound of a rainforest and on the other it was a piano playing. I liked the forest better, but I listened to both. As I got older, I transitioned into needing the tv on, but we didn't always have cable. This was back when there would be such awful infomercials on in the middle of the night, so I would often record movies on a tape and when I went to bed I would just pop it in. It didn't matter if I missed any of the it because I had seen them. Fast forward years and advancements in technology and I do the same thing, but with the DVR. Whenever I see a movie that I love, I record it and then when I'm getting in bed I pop it on. This largely annoys my husband, but thankfully he … [Read more...]

Labor Day Released on DVD 4/29/14

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a gift card/money/coupon and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. All opinions expressed are those of the reviewer and honest in nature. Based upon the novel written by Joyce Maynard, Labor Day was released on dvd April 29, 2014. I was sent an awesome Labor Day package including the book, movie, and a peach pie kit. The pie kit included a gorgeous pie pan, a pie dough blender, pie server, filling and crust mix, and the Labor Day peach pie recipe. Also included were coffee mugs, an ice cream scoop. I have to be honest, I haven't seen it yet! I invited my sister over to watch it with me, but she's been very busy. I don't think I could even bribe Richard and Jake to watch it, so I'm waiting on Dani. Hopefully, we'll be able to watch it soon. Even though I haven't seen it yet, I can guess as I'm sure you have, that peach pie plays an important role in the movie. When I find out when Dani can come over, I … [Read more...]
