PainRelief

Last year my husband was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. He was prescribed insulin and oral medication as well. As those started doing their work, he started feeling a lot of pain that the high level of sugars in his body had previously masked. Some was due to neuropathy caused by the diabetes, but he was having lot of pain in his shoulder, arm, and wrist. He went through a battery of tests and it was determined that he also has arthritis. Unfortunately, my husband is a large guy and has an extremely high tolerance to pain medications, but he was in desperate need of pain relief.

He tried several types of pain relief pills and muscle relaxers without much help. Doctors are hesitant to give people stronger options due to the possibility of abuse or dependence and while I understand that, it often leaves people such as my husband to suffer needlessly. On top of that, medications tend to cause him other issues especially upsetting his stomach. And with the other medications he’s taking, there’s always a worry of interactions.

Something he tried that eliminates the possibility of side effects or drug interactions were topical pain relief creams, but there have been a few problems with the kinds that we tried. I mean we tried this one that was so hot on my hands that I had to wear gloves or I could feel it on my hands even after washing my hands multiple times. And I’m incredibly sensitive to scents and they would burn my nose! I would have to stuff tissues up my nostrils while applying the cream to my husband’s body. So far, my husband has been able to get a small bit of relief from a combination of ice packs both on his shoulder and wrist he holds on with a brace and an Ace bandage.

LivRelief

I was recently given the opportunity to review LivRelief over the counter, topical pain relief and while I do suffer from some aches and pains, I thought it would be worth a shot for my husband.

Facts about LivRelief:

It’s 90% natural and made using Capsaicin which is found in hot peppers. Both my husband and love eating peppers, the hotter the better so hey they might as well use it for pain relief, too! Capsaicin has long been known for it’s antioxidant, anti-viral, anti-allergenic, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties.

LivRelief is paraben-free, pretroleum-free, as well as gluten-free. It is free of both SLS and propylene glycol.

It has been thoroughly tested by dermatologists and uses a proprietary and patent-pending delivery system called Delivra.

My husband gave LivRelief a try on his wrist and said it took about five minutes to feel a reduction in pain. He said while the pain was still there, it was dulled. I’d score that as a win! He did say that he wishes it was less greasy. Though I can say that he strongly dislikes anything “lotion-y” feeling on his skin so that could have just been him.

I grabbed the bottle to have a look myself. LivRelief is a decently thick beige colored cream. I took a hefty whiff and was pleasantly surprised that there are no overwhelming chemical smells. This is fantastic because he can use it without me being affected with a headache or sour stomach. I do suffer from carpal tunnel myself and often foot pain due to high arches and plantar fasciitis. I think I’ll give LivRelief a try the next time either are bothering me.
