These handy little bands arrived in the mail within 2 days. Our family practically lives at the river in the summer, so I was excited to try these. We all get sunburned throughout the summer, especially Ashley and Jesse. They have “orange” hair and the fair skin to go with it. Yes, I always goob them up with tons of sunblock.Sun

Fast forward a few days after the sunscreen bands arrived. A little rain forecasted, a couple cloudy days, and a sick girl.. We’re now ready to hit the river.

The kids lined up as usual to get smothered in sunblock. (this is so cute. Imagine 3 kids lined up with their eyes shut tight and noses plugged) moving on…. I put the sunbands on them. The directions say to use SPF 15 or more. (we had SPF 30) and to wait to get them wet for 15 minutes.

A couple sand castles later, I gave the “ok” to get in the water. Just as the picture shows, they start out a dark purple and turn to lavender when it’s time to re-apply your sunblock. About an hour and a half later, all of our bands were turning lavender. Time to goob on some more sunblock. We stayed until the bands turned white (a couple hours later.) When the bands turn white, it’s time to get out of the sun. We were ready to get home anyways. Dinner time ~ Summer BBQ Yes, please :)

We followed the instructions to a “T” and guess what? Nobody got a sunburn! Yay! It’s always a good day when we all come home happy from an awesome day at the river!

Shelley Says: I would buy these, and I will… For an 8 pack from Toys R Us they cost $6.99. That’s less than $1.00 a band to insure no sunburns! I’m all about bargains and this is worth it! So… If you are a river rat like us, occasionally go out on the lake in your boat, go fishing, hiking, or even work outdoors… Anything you can think of that involves sun, give these sunscreen bands a try. Follow the instructions to make sure you get the maximum benefits and you’ll be happy you did! Did I mention, no sunburns?

  1. What a great idea! I love that this can help protect your children from sunburn! I hate the idea of them getting burnt and I never really know when they have had enough!

  5. This is such a great product idea! We spend a lot of time outdoors, and with only a family of 4 we could make the pack last longer. Of course I would be the one who would benefit the most as I am the one always getting burnt.

  6. What a great product! My husband thinks that because we are all dark skinned Native Americans that we do not need sunscreen. Well, he thought that until my mother got skin cancer. I will definitely look into this!
