I’ve only been to Wisconsin once. I went when I was 19 and visited The Dells. It was a really fun vacation, especially since I could gamble there! You have to be 21 in Iowa.
Anyway, even though I’ve only been there once, I know enough to know that Wisconsin does a lot right. The top of the list is of course…cheese! Oh cheese, how you make me so very happy.
The Wisconsin Cheeseman recently offered me a review opportunity and I was thoroughly excited to say yes. I asked Richard if he had any input on what we should review and, much as I expected, his answer was “meat & cheese”. It’s the simple things that make my husband happy.
I set out to find something to fit his request and got lost in all the deliciousness that is The Wisconsin Cheeseman. Their website is a little like Pinterest, once you go in you’re just mesmerized by everything there. You finally snap out of it and realize you’re missing time. Ok, it’s not quite that bad, but you get my point. (Though Pinterest really IS like that.)
There are a variety of assortments with several price points to fit any budget. Whether you’re having a small get together or a big party you can treat everyone on the list. The smaller assortments are perfect for just your family. Of course, these make fantastic gifts during special Holidays and events as well as being a great item to bring along to a gathering.
After looking over the site, I chose the Big Show Food Gift Assortment. Unfortunately, I don’t see that one available at this time. But the closest to my selection that is still available would be the Grand Food Gift Assortment. Like this one, my choice came packed full of scrumptious sausages and cheeses. My personal favorite was the bacon cheese spread. It was delicious atop some club crackers.
Jake and I tried to wait to sample anything until I could snap a few pictures, but you can see how that went. The first thing we tried were the tortes. They’re almost like long petit fours. A cake with
cream in the middle and then covered with chocolate. Yep, they were good.
I cut up some meat and cheese for Richard to try later and he enjoyed them very much. I do have to say that they are sample sizes. If you’re expecting each sausage and cheese brick to be big, you might be in for a surprise. That being said, they’re are plenty of each so that people can taste the varieties and not feel like they’re missing out. Richard actually took what was left over to his family’s Christmas and got no complaints!
The Wisconsin Cheeseman company offers the finest cheeses and meats, but they also have a fabulous bakery section (including those petit fours I love) and a specialty candy and chocolate section. You can find handcrafted chocolates and other for any occasion. They even offer sugar and gluten free options!
