Tidy Cats Lightweight Litter Review

Hey, guess what? This is a review. I was sent samples of the products below. I received no monetary compensation. All opinions expressed are solely my own based upon my experience with the product.

I have three cats that are in “the main house”. I have two kittens that were born in April that stay on the back porch and are allowed to roam the house at night. I’m slowly integrating them. I also have their Mama on the back porch. As you can imagine, I require a bit of cat litter. I’ll spare you pictures of the litter boxes. Even cleaned daily and fresh, they are still litter boxes, right?

I jumped at the chance to review new Tidy Cats LightWeight litter. Lugging around huge bags or containers of litter is no fun. Especially since two of the litter boxes are in the basement. I already have to be careful not to fall down the stairs or bonk my head above me, but carrying litter downstairs makes it even more difficult.

Tidy Cats LightWeight litter is just that. Light weight! 50% lighter than regular cat litter. Even with the name, I still expected a heavy container. I braced myself to pick the litter up and felt a little silly when I realised how light it actually was. I could easily manage the container with one hand and move throughout the house without calling for help or having a big bag block my view.

I love the clumping action of the LightWeight litter, it definitely makes it easier to clean. It’s perfect for multiple cats and boasts 24/7 odor control. I don’t care how many times I clean the litter box, use baking soda, spray Febreze etc. I can always tell when there are cats in a home. It doesn’t smell bad, it’s just the smell of cats. But I do have to say while using this litter there was less of a litter box smell and more of a pleasant scent when I would walk into a room with a litter box. That’s a plus for me!

To showcase just how light Tidy Cats LightWeight litter is (so light you can toss it), recent Emmy nominees were invited to stop by a TidyCats LightWeight Litter Toss event. The event was part of the GBK  Gift Lounge in honor of the 2013 Emmy Awards. Every toss equaled a donation of $100 to the spcaLA animal welfare organization. Ed O’Neill, Dennis Quaid and others showed up to give the light litter a toss for charity.

Even Matt LeBlanc gave it a shot!LeBlanc September 2013

I really appreciate the lighter litter and I’m sure others do as well. I know my Mom has a limit to the weight that she can lift and litter has always been a problem. Products with solutions like this allow her to be able to lift things on her own.

  1. Thank you for this review. I know when my mom got really sick with her cancer changing the cat litter was so hard on her because it weighed so much!! I wish they had this available when she was still living. She HATED relying on others to change her cat’s litter. She had to give her cat up sooner than she planned because she couldn’t wait on others to come change the litter all the time. (She lived over an hour away from me, and I worked many long hours. So, I couldn’t go by as often as I wanted.)

  2. Wow cat litter can be heavy, I wonder if my mom knows about this stuff. I always had to carry her for her.
